Welcome to Bayside Beach...

A quiet slice of pristine Cape Cod beach, situated between Eel Pond and the mouth of Seapit River.

With exclusive access for all residents of Seacoast Shores and panoramic views of Washburn Island, Bayside Beach provides neighbors with the perfect spot to while away a Cape Cod summer. Located near the mid-way point of the boulevard, Bayside is just a ten minute walk for most of the neighborhood (although you may want to bring a wagon for the little ones!).

Bayside Beach throughout history

Originally developed as part of Joint Base Cape Cod (once the largest Aerospace Defense Command Base in the world and colloquially known as Otis Air Force Base), Seacoast Shores provided housing, mess and logistics for soldiers training for deployment to Europe. Bayside Beach was home to one of many bridges connecting the two mile span of peninsula to Washburn Island and neighboring Seapit. Fast forward eighty-three years, the bridges no longer exist and the soldiers long gone but Bayside Beach lives on with integral support from SSAI.

Bayside now offers residents their own private beach for a picnic with family, cooling off with a dip in the bay, or enjoying a short swim over to Washburn Island for a chance to explore one of the Cape's few undeveloped islands. Some of our more hearty residents have even organized an annual Polar Plunge!

Erosion's impact on our beloved beach

As changing sea levels and tidal waters pound the banks of Seacoast Shores, sand from Bayside is continually redeposited along an area of Washburn Island, known to the locals as "the spit". In the summer of 2023 (and once prior in 2018), thanks to the support of residents and dedicated leaders in our community, we replenished the shores of Bayside Beach to combat the effects of Mother Nature, ensuring our own little slice of heaven remains for the next generation of Seacoasters.
