The Jack Way Memorial Scholarship
The Jack Way Memorial Scholarship applauds citizenship by honoring the memory of a man who fervently believed in the adage, "If everyone works together, we can make the world a better place to live." Jack Way's optimism and inspiration touched the people of Seacoast Shores in many beneficial ways, whether it was through his stewardship of the local Neighborhood Watch Chapter or being the President of the Seacoast Shores Association. He also discovered the many jewels that this community had to offer through his loves of boating, fishing, shellfishing, and painting. Jack Way felt that when people participate in the public process, good things can and will happen.
In memory of Jack Way, the Seacoast Shores Association will award one $1,000 scholarship each year in order to help a student realize his/her post-high school educational goals.
The applicant must be:
- A child whose parent or guardian is a Seacoast Shores Association member and is a property owner or a year-round resident of Seacoast Shores.
- A graduating senior who has been accepted to a post-high school program/college or an undergraduate already enrolled in such a course of study.
- A student who merits the scholarship. All of the following criteria will be considered: grades, citizenship (contributions to the community, particularly any SSA involvement), financial need, extracurricular activities, and the essay.
