Paving
and the Safety of Seacoast Residents
Update as of Jan 07: As many of you
know Senator Murray has been actively advocating for sidewalks for
the past 2 years and along with
Representative Patrick has been actively involved in ensuring that
sidewalks are ultimately included in this plan.
We recently received some encouraging news on the issue. The latest report we
have received from Mass Highway is that work should commence in East
Falmouth mid to late spring, and that sidewalks will be a part of
that plan. The town has committed to the future maintenance and
snow removal of road, and Mass Highway recently gained approval for
an extra work order that will cover the costs of the sidewalks. As
of now all signs are that the sidewalks will be included, and rest
assured Senator Murray will continue to make it a priority until
this project is done.
Update as of Fall 2006:
Route 28
repaving this fall or next spring will not include a sidewalk/bicycle
path from Central Ave to Seacoast Shores Blvd or a Traffic Signal Light
at Seacoast Shores Blvd. Both of these are essential safety improvements
for all the residents of Seacoast Shores. We the residents cannot
bicycle or walk/jog out of Seacoast Shores because it is presently too
dangerous to ride a bicycle or walk/jog on Rte 28 The heavy traffic on
Rte 28 makes it very difficult to drive out of Seacoast Shores. Because the roadway of
Rte 28 goes downhill in both directions from Seacoast Shores Blvd., it is
very difficult to see the on-coming traffic Continue to write letters
about our safety concerns for these problems: State Highway Dept c/o
